Enhancing The Quality of Education              


Established in 1992, the Chaparral Educational Foundation (CEF) is a non-profit fundraising organization dedicated to enhancing the education of all students at Chaparral Elementary School.  An all-volunteer board leads the Foundation and works collaboratively with the PTA, school administration, faculty and other parents to fund needed but unfunded, programs and services.


2009-2010 Funding Priorities


In the 2009-2010 school year, CEF is pleased to focus fundraising efforts on these programs:

  • ART CORPSTM
  • Music
  • Counseling/support services
 

In addition, the PTA continues its support for PE this year and has fully funded Mrs. Murray’s position!


As a result of the State’s budget cuts, many “extra” services were cut from the budget at Chaparral (and other Poway Unified elementary schools). In surveys conducted in the spring and summer, parents and teachers agreed that funding these positions should be the CEF’s top priority in 2009-2010.

History

The Foundation was established in 1992 to fund a variety of unmet needs at Chaparral Elementary School. Last year, the Foundation provided funding for these projects:

  • MPR sound system
  • Docu-cams and LCD projectors in the classrooms
  • Support services for the library and computer lab
  • Art CorpsTM
  • Reading Counts
  • Brainpop
